Chase Bio

Like most people in Corver City, Chase had grown up in poverty, a situation made worse when his father was charged and convicted for a crime that he had not committed. Chase’s father Blake had worked as a researcher for DarkWinds, a multibillion dollar pharmaceutical company, for twenty years. Although he barely brought home enough money to afford the rent on their one bedroom apartment, Blake was often awarded at work for his innovative ideas, and his reports had saved the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. But one day the CEO of Darkwinds found himself in some legal trouble. Instead of accepting responsibility, the cowardly executive blamed his mistake on Darkwinds research team, headed by Chase’s father. Somehow, DarkWinds managed to unearth paper trails and evidence that implicated Blake, and it took just one hour for a jury to come back with a verdict of guilty. After that, the meager paycheck Blake had been bringing home stopped, and Chase’s mother Rebecca fell into a deep depression, before falling even deeper into the bottle. With no one at home to supervise him, Chase began to wander around the gray and dirty streets of Corver City, taking in all that the dejected area had to offer, which was mostly hopelessness and crime. Chase developed a powerful sense of observation, not only that, but he became able to read people very quickly, understanding who they were, what they were after, and whether or not they could be trusted. After witnessing multiple assaults, robberies, and acts of desperation, Chase began to wonder why the majority of the people who lived in Corver City were so downtrodden, even though it was supposedly a cutting edge metropolis, home to multiple corporations who had all become successful and wealthy, operating from a small corner of the city known as Garland Grove.

Chase would find his answers when he turned eighteen and was legally old enough to join the ranks of the Corver City Police Department. He quickly rose in the ranks and developed a reputation for always uncovering the truth, at any cost. Day after day, night after night, Chase honed his skills, often sacrificing personal relationships and goals in his never ending quest for the truth. His fellow officers talked about how Chase had an almost mystical ability to look at crime scenes and see things that no one else could, and when faced with a perp in an interrogation room, Chase instinctively knew the right questions to ask to get the answers that would eventually break the case wide open. His supervisors also noticed that Chase would tirelessly hound anyone, no matter who they were, which made them uneasy, since unbeknownst to Chase, they had loyalties to certain public figures and organizations that they would have preferred to see left alone. Chase dedicated his life to fighting crime and helping his community, but justice always seemed to remain just out of his grasp. He began to realize that if a person was wealthy enough, powerful enough, or connected enough, they played by different rules. And so he became a man obsessed, working day and night to bring down the men and women of Garland Grove who made their fortunes on the backs of the blue collar workers of Corver City, without sharing any of the rewards. These corporations used people, people like his father, until every last ounce of creativity and life was squeezed from them, and then they were tossed to the side like old garbage. What Chase did not bargain for was his own police force being used as a tool to enable this corruption, and one day when he went too far, Chase was called into his captain’s office and put on probation. It was a warning, a thinly veiled threat to prevent  Chase from pursuing his vendetta. But Chase hadn’t been expected to answer to anyone since he was eight years old, and he didn’t plan on starting now.
